Google Workspace Tips for Nonprofits

Google recently announced G Suite has expanded its offerings and has become Google Workspace. Google describes it as “An integrated workspace that’s simple to use.” They assert that you’ll “spend less time managing your work and more time actually doing it.” We think it has a lot to offer. An especially nice perk is that it’s free to nonprofits!

Auxilio’s clients using Google for Nonprofits can take advantage of all that Google Workspace has to offer. This guide, Google Workspace Tips for Nonprofits, lays out nicely the benefits and opportunities of utilizing the business productivity and collaboration tools available. We’ll highlight two of those tools here.

Shared Drives

In addition to the private storage users have in My Drive, Google offers shared drives that are ideal for collaborating on projects or events or for sharing templates or training files used by a whole organization. Shared drives are assigned to a team of people who can all edit the files and upload new files. This guide explains the differences between My Drive and shared drives.

Google Meet

If you tried Google Meet early on and were less than satisfied, it’s worth giving it another go. Google Meet has been improving at a rapid pace. The grid view now supports up to 49 people. Users can choose custom backgrounds and can blur their background to help with distraction and provide privacy. Meet offers breakout rooms (currently only available to Education users, but coming soon to other users) as well as Q&A and polls which are available to upgraded G Suite users.

As part of our service, Auxilio reviews the tools and services our clients are using and will help make sure you are taking advantage of the benefits these technologies offer. We’ll also ensure you are utilizing available discounts such as Google for Nonprofits, Microsoft for Nonprofits, and discounts on services like Zoom, Adobe Creative Cloud and more.
